Change

Change is everywhere. The weather changes every day. People change too! They can change in their looks, their personalities and even their ages. It sometimes seems like nothing stays the same.

A new year brings a lot of changes. There is the new number… 2007, the new month… January and usually some New Year promises to try to change something in our life that would be beneficial to us.

This is a good time to remember that the baby Jesus went through a lot of changes in a very short time. There were new people coming into his life, shepherds, visitors and the wise men. There was the move from the stable to be presented in the temple and the bigger move to live in Egypt, when Herod was searching to kill him. These are just to name a few! Jesus really needed those people around Him to help him through all the changes, whether the change was pleasant or not.

It is the same for us. Whether or not you like change, it will happen. How do you react to change? Change is much easier if we look toward a parent, a friend, a teacher or a God-parent for that example or just for a kind word. It is just as easy to look to Jesus and his example. If you have change in your life that is hard, fun, unexpected, planned or necessary…include Jesus in the change. Remember all the changes He experienced for us. He knows all about it.
