Reflection of the Week

Stress

Stress is something we all experience. Just coming off of finals week I know you understand stress. It is great when stress is released and we are able to breathe a sigh of relief. The difficult part is finding that breath in the midst of stress. One thing I do in order to take away from stress is take time for prayer. I have found that no matter how little time I have, if I take time out to say a prayer I have a better handle on my stresses.

It has also been my experience that following an extremely stressful week I become tempted to shutdown. In order to battle this post stress shutdown I shift gears. For instance after a long week of studying I need a break from the books, so I clean my work area. I find that if I have an organized work space I feel more ready to take on new projects. I find this to be extremely important as I aim to start a new semester of classes. It is helpful to start fresh by allowing yourself a small break from the books, but still keeping active. So, as this new semester comes underway after an extremely stressful week, start clean by taking some time away from the books. Prepare yourself for the next stressful period you will be encountering. Remember to continually take time for prayer to help relieve some of those stresses.
