The New Year

The New Year is well underway. At this time, I find myself slipping into my old routines, almost forgetting about my New Year’s resolutions. If you make resolutions to improve your life each year or not, the beginning of a new year is a great time to reflect on how we can improve our lives.

This year I’m going to let Jesus’ words (found in Matthew 22:36-40) guide my new year’s life improvement. Jesus says that we should love God above all else and love our neighbor as ourselves. I like to keep life improvements simple because I will be more likely to actually make them part of my life. Therefore, I am going to spend more time with God in prayer each day and more time talking with and visiting neighbors and friends.

We all can add a little love of God and neighbor into our lives. Going to Mass each week, reading the gospels about Jesus and helping your neighbor are a few ways to add God and neighbor into your life. Think of the best ways that you can add love of God and neighbor into your daily or weekly routine. Before you know it, your New Year's life improvement has become part of you and is making your life better. We only have one life, let’s make it an awesome journey of helping others and walking with God.
Let’s start today!
